I was looking at my list of things to do before I left and realized that while I didn't get exactly to where I wanted to, I did pretty well.
1. Although I didn't get my first manuscript completed, I have about 2/3 of the draft. It's missing big chunks of the discussion and a few results but the rest is there and before I leave I will send Dr.Add'EmUp whatever I have written. With the caveat, of course that it still needs work.
2. I collected the last bit of data on Sunday for my second manuscript. Woohoo! What a bitch it was to get that last replicate. Every possible thing that could go wrong, did. But now I can cross this off my list.
3. I've organized my evolved critters to send to a collaborator and the lab tech is is dealing with the specialized shipping needed.
4. I returned all my library books.
5. Met with HR for my exit interview. No I didn't say anything of consequence, but boy did I want to tell all.
6. On Wed morning, I will sit down with the lab tech and walk her step by step through an experiment that I suggested to Dr.Add'EmUp needs to get done. He came to my office last week and looked an awful lot like Oliver asking for more porridge. He wanted me to lay out step by step what experiments I think the lab should focus on. Dude, who's the PI?
7. Took Dr.Add'EmUp for a tour through my lab notebooks and the lab. Showing him how things have been archived and where the critters are kept. Guess what, he's already forgotten.
8. The data for our first and second manuscript is organized and I've sent Dr.Add'EmUp copies of each of the files. As well I have put copies on the external hard drive. But what do you want to make a bet, I get an email asking me for the data again.
9. Bought two gifts. One for the lab tech and the other for my undergrad. I'm taking them out for breakfast tomorrow to thank them for all their hard work.
10. I packed up my office and moved out this weekend. Fucking off comes in TWO DAYS!!!
I've traveled far and wide to get here. For sentimental reasons I've held onto my old blogposts. If you're curious about my past this blog used to be called Canadian GirlPostdoc in America. It documented my experience as a Canadian postdoc living and working in the United States. Now I work in the biotech industry and practice buddhism. Still married to HippieHusband and we've since had an addition - our dog.

congrats!
great work!!
AS for the "leaving but writing in detail what the ppl left in the lab should do experimentwise"... yeah... been there, done that. It all depends on if you think you'll benefit from it in the end.
I ended up supervising from afar via email and analysing data after I've left. I wanted to help out a bit since I wanted the data in my last paper but it stuck me as a bit strange that the PI didn't know really what the person I supervised did... it was sot of assumed I'd stay in the role after I left for a good time... ^^
Enojy the new place and good luck with the actual move!
